Get that glow back! – Reasons why your skin looks dull, tips and tricks to fix it

There are days when our skin just feels tired, it’s hard to explain but you can feel it when you see yourself in the mirror. It’s totally fine to experience dull skin, we can’t deny that stress and lack of sleep can really mess things up! Thankfully there are ways to brighten up your day and it’s kind of really simple, but before we begin we need to really see what’s wrong with our skin and why.

How do you explain it?

Dull skin lacks a healthy glow and this could be giving you some serious signs, focus on finding the reason. Here are a few things that you should check closely,

  • Your skin feels dry and dehydrated

  • Your under-eye area looks darker than usual

  • Skincare products have stopped working

  • Skin texture looks rough (pores and bumps have become noticeable)

  • Face looks puffy and swollen

If you can feel some of these changes then you should definitely listen to your body and start giving it what it’s asking for.

What you actually need

It’s a fact that lifestyle habits do affect your skin and that’s why you need to sort things out first, make a journal and start writing your daily habits, things you do and things you want to change. Plan your routine, your diet and some de-stressing activities, besides that, here are a few things that can really help

  • Hydrate – Drink enough water, try adding some lemon or fruits to your water to make it flavored if you want

  • Exfoliate – You can choose a gentle scrub or mild AHA-BHAs to get rid of dead skin cells, do it once or twice a week

  • Moisturize – Don’t ever skip your moisturizer, it’s really necessary to create a protective barrier for your skin refreshing face mask, the same rule goes for SPF

  • Brightening Face Mask – Take some time off from work and relax with a self-care session, make some DIY masks; you can mix rice water with aloe gel or simply apply some mashed papaya mixed with honey, these will really calm your skin and make you feel good

Your body needs time to heal and so does your skin, be patient and consistent and most importantly, listen to it. Take care and take it slow, you’re amazing the way you are!
